Global Schools Collaboration

The African Travelling Teacher offers specialized global citizenship experiential services to international schools, helping them provide their students with transformative, hands-on global experiences. By facilitating school collaborations, educational tours, and cultural immersion programs, we foster meaningful global engagement that aligns with international curricula and global competency standards with a mission to; “Make children’s education modern, relevant and of high quality to enable them to improve their lives and develop their communities through teacher empowerment” Our flagship initiatives—such as the Cultural Canvas Project, piloted at the Western Academy of Beijing with great success connecting students across two continents Africa and Asia through creative and collaborative storytelling—serve as a model for these experiences.

Cultural Canvas Project

The Cultural Canvas Project was launched in 2022 following an initial connection between Ms. Angelia (WAB) and Francis Bizoza Bigirimana—also known as The African Travelling Teacher—and the later involvement of Daniel Avila, Visual Arts teacher at WAB. Francis was first invited to speak to Grade 8 and 9 students at the Western Academy of Beijing about infrastructure in Africa. However, due to a resurgence of COVID-19 restrictions in Beijing, the engagement was interrupted. In response, Ms. Angelia and Francis reimagined the initiative, creating a more immersive experience that connected WAB students with peers at Nyarutembe Community Secondary School in Uganda through a Global Citizenship and Visual Arts Exchange.
